I was thinking we were due for a new blog soon, and then today's news sealed the deal. So many exciting things to share!
1) Border Restrictions Continue to Ease!
As of April 1, the federal government will be lifting the pre-arrival COVID-19 testing requirement at the border for fully vaccinated travellers.
Passengers may still be subjected to random PCR testing at the airport, and travellers will still have to use the ArriveCAN app to enter their proof of vaccination and other required information.
While we had heard rumors the last few weeks, it is now official. This is great news and signs that Canada is slowly removing travel restrictions. (Big thanks to NOTO for lobbying for this). While a minor inconvenience to travelers last season, this border revision will help make border crossing more seamless. We understand the vaccination requirement is still preventing some of our loyal guests from crossing right now and appreciate your patience as well as understanding in our lack of control of it- we'll get there. At least this is more movement in the right direction.
2) Milwaukee Sports Show a Success!
In March of 2020, we finished the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel Sports Show and less than a week later, the world shut down from the pandemic. Well this past weekend we felt the momentum return and it was great to get back in the swing of things. Thanks to returning guests including Mark Minta, Mark Bullard, Gary Ingraham, Don Richter, Bob Camuy, Ken and Kay, Craig and Jenny, Steve and Andrea, the Meyers, the Haans, and others for stopping by our booth and visiting at the Milwaukee show! We also enjoyed numerous conversations with new and potential guests. We were able to take advantage of opportunities to network as well as educate others on the healthy Canadian fisheries and clear up so much border misinformation.
3)We are featured in Northern Ontario Travel magazine!
Check out the article Bridget recently wrote that just got published! With some food pics of our last two years up North, we bet many of you can relate.
4) Gearing up for the season!
We have been busy designing and ordering new items that will be for sale in our gift/tackle shop! From hats to fishing shirts to beverage holders, we're excited to offer some new items that you can get while on vacation with us. Here's our new campfire ceramic mugs and a tumbler/can holder:
5) We are still taking 2022 bookings!
With little to no pressure on our beloved Wabaskang in two years, the fishing this season could be quite remarkable. We still have a few remaining openings for this 2022 season:
May 21-28th (Opener Week which is 6 days later this year)
July 2-9
July 9-16
July 16-23
July 30- September
Note: We've already had quite a few requests for 2023 dates. We will give current 2022 guests the option of rebooking during checkout and will then release all remaining cabins after that, so please email as early as 51 weeks out for 2023 trips.
Reminders:
- Updates are posted on our Facebook page
- Join the Wix free app for announcements and notifications of when blog gets published (great if you don't use social media)
- Website was updated this winter- check it out!
After two years of so many sacrifices we've all made, even Justin Trudeau realizes we are all ready to get back to living full and enriching lives. Take notice of how each of us has grown in resilence and shown grit. May this spring of 2022 be a fresh beginning where we appreciate even the simplest of things, and are grateful for all our blessings. Thanks as always for the positivity and your enthusiasm. We love it!
